Meet The Makers The Bridge and Taylor
29 Sep
I set up The Bridge and Taylor 2 years ago, the brand hosts a collection of luxury illustrated prints and stationery. I focus on creating classic looks with luxurious metallic accents. All of my products are designed and lovingly handmade in my studio in South West Londonusing only the best quality material all sourced from the UK.

Why and when did you decide to start your business?
I started my business two years ago in a tiny studio flat in Richmond. I had left Art school thinking I wanted to go into Gallery work but I found that I greatly missed drawing. Deciding that Gallery work wasn’t really for me I set up an Etsy shop and started selling my work. The business has grown from there!

Where do you seek inspiration from for your product range?
I live in London and am constantly find inspiration here every day, from the architecture to the fashion and style. Inspired by British culture I aim to create simple and elegant designs, which I try to convey in my work and in the materials I work with.

What are your greatest achievements to date?
That I am supporting myself with my creativity, I am very proud that through a lot of blood, sweat and tears I have created something that people enjoy and brings me a lot of joy.

Who inspires you?
It sounds very corny but it would be my Grandad, he has always worked for himself and has built several businesses. He had huge success and what others would define as huge failures but he never let this define him. When many people would have given up he started again and came out on top.

What is important to you in business?
To always show respect and appreciation to the people connected to this business. From my friends who help pack orders to my suppliers and the staff at the local Post office. Each of them has helped me get to where I am, and I couldn’t have done it without them.

What do you enjoy most about your business?
I love creating the new season’s line. I will collate a range of fabrics, images and designs that encompass the story I am trying to create. I then sit down with my mood board a cup of tea and start to pencil out ideas and initial designs. This for me is the most exciting part of the process.

Why did you choose to list your products on oodlique
I really liked Oodlique’s focus on unique crafted products and felt that it was a place I could nurture my business.

What has your experience been like working with oodlique
Amazing! The Team at Oodlique have been very helpful in setting up my store and providing support to help me grow on their platform. I feel the curation of products always flows nicely and always compliments my work.

What does the future hold for your business?
Hopefully lots of good things!
