Why and when did you decide to start your business?
Cue September 2013, I’m thinking about Christmas and what theme I wanted for my decorations. I wanted something different, something unique. And I wanted to make it myself! I’ve always been ‘crafty’, delving into cross-stitch, card making and jewellery – All since I was a child. It felt like the right time to try something new, so I bought some packs of felt and thread and made myself some gingerbread men…. Friends saw them… They wanted them… The rest is history!
I look at current trends and try and emulate them. I love bold colours, my rainbow themed items are some of my biggest sellers.
What are your greatest achievements to date?
I am very proud of the fact that what started as a few gifts between friends has now become a worldwide business. I love receiving orders and seeing where in the world I’m sending them to!
Who inspires you?
I follow lots of talented women on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, there is no single person that inspires me, I just love to see successful talented people and hope that success rubs off!
What is important to you in business?
Customer service is a must. I keep communication with my buyers at all times, sending progress photographs where possible. I hate it when I buy something handmade and I’ve had no updates, or I don’t know what’s going to come through the letterbox beforehand. I like to make sure my customers are 100% happy with their orders before they are despatched.
What do you enjoy most about your business?
I find working with felt very therapeutic. Crafting has always been in my blood and if I have a stressful day, there’s nothing better than sitting down with needle and thread and creating something beautiful.
What has been your biggest endorsement to date you have received for your product/s
I love it when I go on social media and see people recommending my products when someone is asking for a particular themed item.
Why did you choose to list your products on oodlique?
Oodlique is different to other platforms, as it specialises in personalised gifts. when I was approached, as my biggest sellers are my name garlands, I felt that they fitted in perfectly with the Oodlique ethos.
What has your experience been like working with oodlique?
Very positive, Brendan & Sophia have been a dream! Very helpful and went out of their way to get me up and running on the site at a time where I was severely pushed for time
