I am very happy to be joining oodlique – Thank you for inviting me.
I am a mum to one 3 year old boy who does happily most of my time. The hours I have making are spent at my studio in St Leonard’s On Sea tucked away knitting my maps, drawings and text pieces.
I graduated from knit BA at Brighton University and after a spell in Italy designing knitwear, getting ill with arthritis and returning to the UK, I found myself designing products for people with disabilities. I finally found myself back at my machine when I settled in Hastings in 2009. ompompom however was properly designed and launched after elective surgery and time out in November 2015.
I am slowly knitting my way around the world in baby blankets X marks the place of birth. I love looking at the maps as abstract shapes and choosing what will work for the blanket graphically and within the knit. See my instagram page for map ideas. I love a map challenge and look forward to a Canada order with all their wonderful islands.
My scribble blankets arrived from translating my son’s first marks into a blanket, but I am looking forward to some more detailed drawings from him and you to translate too.
I knit using Scottish lambswool
I am usually able to answer a question promptly.
